Bringing Back Soccer Fun!

I have really missed playing sports and being around them over the past three years. Sports used to be a very large part of my life. People are amazed that I played sports year round throughout my teenage years. I am grateful to my parents to giving me that opportunity. It's hard when you become an adult...you have to be responsible for yourself, hold down and maintain a good job and along with your church callings, it doesn't leave much time to play sports or have fun.

Well, today was my first time coaching a soccer team. I am helping out Bethany (a lady in my ward) coach her daughters soccer team. Bethany never played soccer and had surgery on her foot not too long ago, so she cannot kick the ball or demonstrate what the kids are supposed to do. That's where I come in. I love soccer and miss being around the game, so I took the opportunity to coach with her. I had so much fun this morning. So many memories were brought back about my childhood soccer memories. The main difference is that it was HOT today, whereas most of my memories are from cold morning games.

I am excited to work with these kids. They are first and second graders and are so excited to be playing. I just need to teach some of them what my dad always told me...don't following and bunch up with the ball because the ball will come out and you will be able to get it.

How Fun! I want to coach a soccer team when my kids get older. :) It is hilarious to watch little kids chase the ball around. Good luck with your team! We want updates.

We love soccer at our house too. I wish we could offer to volunteer as coaches but alas, neither Ryan nor I know a thing about soccer. But we're learning. Maybe by the time Davis starts playing we can help out.
